Lagoon specialist Patrick Hill discusses methods of land application, pros and cons of land application of lagoon effluent, its suitability as a treatment option for meeting lagoon ammonia limits, and the benefits of aeration in a treatment system.

Attendees will learn about the types of land application systems for lagoon effluent, their advantages, and their disadvantages and operational challenges. These will be compared with a lagoon upgrade using either aeration or an ammonia removal reactor, and the operational and cost factors of each will be evaluated in a case study.
